The focus of the IMB Bank Cook Community Classic is a major community event held each year in Cronulla. As at December 2022 the event has raised over $1.66 million for community organisations, sporting clubs and charity.
The event consists of:
Community carnival including children’s entertainment, live music and community stalls
A competitive carnival between the four Bate Bay Surf Clubs
- Community carnival including children’s entertainment, live music and community stalls
- A competitive carnival between the four Bate Bay Surf Clubs
- An open water swim for public participation
- A major prize raffle
Through these activities the Classic provides a fundraising platform for local community groups – including sports clubs, local charities, school P&Cs and other community organisations – without themselves having to attract sponsors, arrange prizes, organise events and generate publicity to support their efforts.
By pooling resources and holding one annual event smaller organisations can raise significant funds and awareness for their cause through the combined efforts of the Classic organising committee.
The Classic is an event created in the best spirit of the Cook community, building on the great Australian traditions of sporting excellence and the desire to help one’s neighbours.
I am proud to be patron of the IMB Bank Cook Community Classic and thank everyone who has been instrumental in making this event possible.
