IMB Bank Cook Community Classic a huge success

Once again the IMB Bank Cook Community Classic, has enjoyed another successful year. Celebrating ten years we have reached the million dollar milestone, raising a total of $1,022,404 since the Classic’s inception.

This year, the Classic raised $111,824 through raffle ticket sales, $18,617 across the community carnival and ocean swim and $53,000 from the Sylvania BMW/Caringbah Rotary Gala Ball. A grand total of $183,441 in 2017, a Classic record. This money has been distributed to fifty seven community groups and not for profit organisations based on their level of participation.

These hard working charities and community organisations in and around my electorate of Cook, which now includes suburbs across the Sutherland Shire and St George areas, sold 55,912 raffle tickets also making 2017 our most successful year for the Classic raffle.

I sincerely appreciate all of the support from local and national sponsors including IMB Bank, QANTAS, AHA, Sydney Airport Corp. Ltd, PAYCE, ANSTO, Woolooware Bay, McDonalds Sutherland Shire Restaurants, Rotary Caringbah, Sharks, Westfield Miranda and Sylvania BMW. Thank you also to new sponsor this year, Highland Property Agents, for joining in and supporting this great community event. In kind support was provided by Kirrawee High Big Band, Ettingshausen’s dancers, F45 training and Australian Handball Federation. Raffle sponsors included Abroenet and Eventhouse.

I also commend the Sutherland Shire Council for their support over the 10 years of this event. Council provide the park, beach and facilities with no charge, and providing extra assistance on the day with the toilet amenities, power and waste disposal.

I am extremely proud to be the Patron of what is becoming an iconic annual Shire event, which brings  all sectors of the community together and delivers benefits to fellow Australians less fortunate or in need, not only in the Shire but beyond.
