North Cronulla Surf Club

25 February 2022

To mark the commencement of “Project Phoenix”, I was joined for a sod turning ceremony at North Cronulla Surf Club with Member for Cronulla, The Hon. Mark Speakman SC MP, Sutherland Shire Council Mayor, Cr Carmelo Pesce and Club President Geoff Budd.

This long awaited project, which the Commonwealth provided $2.9m in funding for, is a major building redevelopment of North Cronulla Surf Club to address the antiquated and outdated club, providing a new operationally and functional building complex to support surf lifesaving activities and our community for the next 100 years.

This is an exciting project for the whole community and I thank all the dedicated volunteers who brought this project to life including Geoff Budd, Warren Rennie AM and Craig McKinniery, just to name a few.

The work the Surf Life Saving Club and its volunteers do all year round is something we are all so grateful for. They keep our beaches safe and they ensure locals can enjoy the best our community has to offer.

I am so pleased we have been able to support their important work with this funding – by backing them, they will be able to train our next generation of surf lifesaving champions and provide a great community centre we can all enjoy.
