Today we remember and honour the sacrifice and service of our Vietnam War veterans on this 50th anniversary of the end of that conflict.
We especially acknowledge again that the injuries of that service did not end when the war did, and continued when they returned home, and the treatment they received in their own country.
A lot has been done to remedy this over the years, but on this day, we simply say thank you again for your service and acknowledge everything you went through.
Thanks to everyone who attended the Cronulla RSL Sub Branch Vietnam War Memorial Service today at Monro Park in Cronulla. From our veterans and their families to the young students from St Aloysius Primary, it was great to join together and give honour.
Special thanks to Veteran Ron Shaw who gave a very strong and moving address about the service of all our veterans and the impacts of the war on the Vietnamese people, especially the people of South Vietnam who they went to fight for and with.
